This has been a great month for me. I've managed to finish off the coursework for Section 1 of my course, and have been flying through Section 2 (Javascript). At the same time, I have been asked to design a website for a friend, and have been invited to quote for a paying job for a national charity. I was very pleased with the quote I submitted. I know I wouldn't have had the information or the confidence to put together a quote like that before I started training with Skillstrain. I won't know if I've got the contract until after the 4th August, but I'm confident I've given a good account of myself. If I do get the contract, I'll have earned two thirds of my course fees back on one job! If I don't, I'll have gained good experience of quoting to a customer's brief and planning a project. I'm liking July! I have progressed highly in the past few months, and performed well in my TMA's. Passed my A+ Core Hardware exam on Febuary this year. Passed the OS technologies exam in May this year to obtain my A+ certification. Studied course and also course updates to achieve this. Three weeks ago, I wrote to the college for a reference letter to back up my application for a new position within my company as my company wanted the letter confirming that I have completed A+ and N+ and have commenced the study of CCNA. The letter was provided and I went, I saw and we (myself and SKILL Skillstrain) conquered. Well this is not my first time of attending LIT but whenever I have the opportunity to say one or two things regarding this fantastic system of lecturing, it will always be full of praises. What else can I say rather than saying a big thank you to all members of skillstrain who where in charge of the session - their teaching and speaking was very plain and clear. I would like to thank all those engineers that made it possible for us to enjoy this type of training, it feels like you are in classroom which is great. Having the worry of my mother having cancer twice, and strugelling with depression and a serious chronic back condition, I recently traveled down to the Skills Train facility in Luton (from manchester) where I sat the City and Guilds web design exam (and hopefully passed). This was a very painfull experience but I got through it with the help of the Excelent SkillsTrain staff. This experience has spured me on and I now have the Foundations Exam booked and am confident that I will succeed even though I have to revise whilst lying flat on the floor AND trying to look after my son (being a single parent). Have been working 2 jobs and have been studying in tea breaks and lunch hours. The company I work for has a Communications division and the director of it heard about what I was doing and the course I was studying. He has offered me a position as Communications Engineer. I am now working on Telecoms, Data Comms, Audio Visual,Security and Wirless. I enrolled on the CCNA course about 15 months ago and I am glad I did. Had I enrolled on it somewhere else I would have been booted out long time ago! Thanks to its highly flexibility in nature. It has not been easy combining my low paid hard work job with this course. But I am glad and always feel very comfortable when I bury my head deep on the course material. ACHIEVED A+ AND N+ CERTIFICATION DUE TO HARD WORK AND COMMITTMENT ALSO COMMUNICATING WITH TUTORS AND KEEPING A TIGHT STUDY SCHEDULE. For 21 years I was a digger driver to trade with no IT background at all. Not being one to sit back and accept the fact that it just works , who cares how (My PC that is ) and armed with a desire to know more I started out on a voyage of discovery . I now find myself at the opposite end of the scale.I appear to have become the village IT man . The knowledge I have gained through my N+ is incredible . My PC skills are impressing my kids 17 & 14 which is saying something . My CCNA although difficult is proving rewarding and hopefully at the end of it all will be a job offer that will put my new found skills to the test . The down side, if you could call it that, is my employer and friend can see the progression from digger driving PC illeterate cabbage to intellectual IT man . He knows that the day is drawing closer when I will shake his hand, thank him for the good times, curse him for the bad times and wish him bon voyage as I head off into the sunset port-folio in hand as a qualified IT man. All of this is thanks to the back up I have from you guys. You sit in the wings ever watch-full never criticising and always ready to help. It is appreciated. Thanks for everything After a few months studying for the Network+ exam I landed a full time IT Support job with my now current employer who was impressed with my commitment to the course. I have now passed the exam and am certified and now have the chance of a promotion because of this. My learning curve is extremely high at the moment. I started this course with the sole purpose of passing it and then changing my career for the better (hopefully). I have gained a vast amount of knowledge that I had no idea about before, my grades are in the 90's which has amazed me. My daughters nursery school has a computer which was basically poorly, after a week putting into practice what I have learnt on this course it's now fighting fit and I have now shown them how to do things like newsletters etc, so that it looks a lot more professional. It doesn't take ages to get going like it did before. Money well spent so far, hopefully it will be worth the wait.
