With myself being of the older generation, it was with concerns that I started on the CompTIA A+ course. ( That's Network Engineer to us mere mortals ). I NOW KNOW MY WAY AROUND A COMPUTER AND CAN COMPETENTLY AND CONFIDENTLY IDENTIFY COMPONENTS, HARDWARE,SOFTWARE,ETC JUST COMPLETED MY TMA01 2 WEEKS AGO AND WAS ECSTATIC TO GET A 100per CENT MARKED PAPER.LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING TO GRIPS WITH MY TMA02.Thanks for the tutorial support. I have read some of the other success stories - I felt quite moved by what some people have over came and dealt with. I myself came down with M.E in April 2006, it wasn't until January this year that I managed to sustain studying again.I work in a telecomm's network management office, I find myself talking about technical subjects that I would have never had known enough about to contribute to. I find the 2006 objectives Compti A+ much better it is laid out,and in a clearer format. I have never felt rushed or under pressure thanks to the terms of the course. I only ever seem to email my tutor team but no matter when I do, I always get a swift response.I have just got 97% on my last TMA after re-submitting it, it felt really good as I was worried I had made the same mistakes! I must confess that my course with skills train that is A+, N+, CCNA & CCNP has given me alot of confidence to face the future as an IT professional. I recently finished a degree at university and wasn't sure where I wanted to go, a common problem for students. I ended unemployed for a while and really started to feel down. I decided to take up a certification course in IT after seeing SkillsTrain advertised. I decided to take the A+ and N+ and go on to take the CCNA. Was it a small achievement generally, I am proud to say that my accomplishment so far is not a small one. I have completed my A+ and N+ programmes. I am currently waiting for my password and username to reach me so that I could start off my CCNA. While studying with skill train college, I managed to get a certificate in mathematics with the Open University at the same time. I am proud to say that I will be rounding off my degree in ICT with the Open university by October this year. My programme with skill train really helped and is still helping me a great deal with my Open University programme. The skill train programme gave me a lifeline and a much desired hope. I am proud to say that I got a skilled work due to the experience I have gained so far from my skill train courses. My company have decided to enrol me on a work-based ICT course(NVQ level 2) because I passed the preliminary qualification test for the course. Maybe, all these achievements wouldn't have been possible if I didn't start my programme with skill train college. I am thinking of enrolling for further studies with skill train once I complete my CCNP programme. The flexibility of study and feedbacks from tutors has helped me a lot and I don't think I want to stop studying with the college yet. Recently I was diagnosed with Crohns disease I have had to adopt a new life style in every aspect of my life be it social, work and home. Dealing with the condition and being in and out of hospital often, made me put this course on the back burner but has made me believe that you have to deal with what life throws at you but also take the opportunities that are presented to you and make the most of them. I don't revel in sympathy, and as far as I'm concerned there are folks a lot worse off than me. You get out of life what you put in, so this course has given me a very real opportunity to prove that statement!! I have very recently passed my Comptia A Plus 2003 exams (220-301 & 220-302) and am still continuing with my course to aspire to next achieving Network Plus qualifications. This has come to fruition after a fairly tough few years for me, with having to endure several surgical operations on my arms, legs and hips following diagnosis of a rare bone cancer condition. This course has changed my perception towards life. I was into business earlier and very unfortunately had met with serious losses and had to quit the business. I had tried all possible options to find work but was unable to get any work with future or career prospective. I then started looking for an option that could give me a career which has growth prospects and I was willing to learn from scratch. In my quest for such an option, I came across the skills train training programme and made an enquiry. After a detailed discussion with the career advisor, I felt that this is the right option and this is the only way I could get my life back on track. But I was a bit indifferent and skeptical as to whether I will be able to undergo a studying phase at this stage of my life. But I was determined to do this and made an effort to study even though I had a bit of delay with the initial start up. I have been an end user of computer for a very long time but didn't know anything about how it works. On commencing the course, there were initial difficulties with concentration on the course work but eventually, with my determination and hard work, I improved and things got much easier. Now I find the course very interesting which is well reflected by the submission of my TMA's and the pace I'm to doing them. I think this achievement of mine have paved way in gaining my self confidence back, which has made things easy for me and plays a major role in motivating me to complete the course as soon as possible and to succeed in life. My level of concentration has also improved and I have proved that in active submission of my TMA's. I am doing the A+ and N+ course with Skillstrain, in the beginning when I started the course I did not have any kind of qualification to do with IT, I just knew the basics which I was taught in school.I always wanted to join the IT industry so I started searching and I always saw adverts on TV, internet and newspapers etc. after going through all the colleges and offers I decided to go with Skillstrain. I rang up Skillstrain and booked an interview, I still wasn't sure how it worked but I had my mind set on doing MCSE. when my interview had come I introduced myself and the way I live and the fact that I am the oldest in my house and that our father doesn't live with us and most responsibilities are on my shoulder. I spoke to the lady who was conducting my interview and said to her that I wanted to do MCSE so she asked me many questions regarding the terms that and qualified Mcse would use, some of them I didn't understand so I gave it a thought. In the mean while I did the aptitude test and I did very well. So the lady advised me to do A+ and N+ and I just got started within the next week. I was a serving soldier for 24.5 years up until Mar 2004 when I was medically discharged with (PTSD) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Major Depression Re occurring, a common psychiatric injury of war. After many years of friends asking me how to do certain things on the computer, I decided to do something for myself and to enrol in a computer course where I will be even more helpful to lots more people, and most of all to have an aim in life and a goal to achieve I had a death in the family last week, and I found that with the added presures of work , but I still got my head down got on with my studies and got an 100% mark for my effort, on test 07, now I feel I can relax a bit more now.
