Just to let you know I passed my CompTIA Network+ 2009 edition exam on May 27 2010. I passed this exam even though I am a single parent bringing up two young sons, one of which is disabled.

I started as Jr. Accountant after my post graduation in 1977.Went to Africa and started as Chief Accountant and with dedication and sincerity I reached to the level of Chief Executive of Internal Audit Department. With huge responsibilities was difficult to take some time for my interest to learn more and more about IT. Even with that difficulties, after taking some time for family, I learned Programming in FoxPro Dos Base and after that in Visual Basic as front end with Access as Back-End at home without any help. At present I am in UK, age 56 years, working as Warehouse Manager but my thirst to know something different is still young and so I joined SKILLS TRAIN and decide to take some time to study more to gain more experience in different IT sectors.

I have started doing all of my coursework and am now on track to hopefully pass with flying colours I am ahead of what I can submit as I have completed the work book and am now submitting all of my assignments. I am set on working for myself and have built a website and have made business cards and have been doing the occasional work on friends and families computers to help build my practical experience. http://phoenixcomputermaintenance.bravehost.com/ this is a link to my website.

I hope you see what I have done as, as much of an achievement as I do.

Thanks for reading

So far during my learning I have achieved the following,

I have studied a lot of the material for A+ and even though I haven't done many TMA'S yet I feel I'm not too far away from being able to pass an exam.

During my studying I've built and sold an i7 watercooled pc, custom sprayed and etched. I've not just built another quad pc which is peltier cooled and at the same time I'm serving with the armed forces, of which most of the month I have been out in the field training with weapon handling and so on.

I now have that much experience with computers that I could put them together blind folded and really enjoy making them.

Thanks

I am very much enjoying my course as I have learnt various skills about, how a PC functions and what hard drive fits in to and the functions of different devices. And I also learnt about attaching different devices to a PC such as a printer. I also have improved on my reading skills as I find the work books very easy to follow.
My results have enhanced as the more work I do the better grades I achieve.
The support I receive from the tutors is fantastic and they are all very patient and understanding. I appreciate their help and support.
My main aim is to eventually have a career in IT, as this is what I am most passionate about. I am grateful for what this organisation has to offer.

Probably like most other students, I have a very busy schedule in terms of work and other commitments. In my case work and a lot of sports coaching and part of the reason I took this course was to change my career to have a bit more time in my hands to do normal things. I have just submitted my tutor marked assignment 05 which in the time scale since I started I have managed to squeeze in study time. I didn't have all the confidence with this course to start with because I was more worried about not exceeding to my expectation. I failed my second TMA but it didn't knock me back. It made me study a bit harder even if it meant staying up till 1-2 am in the morning. I am now enjoying studying again which I didn't think I would. Bring on TMA06...

I have managed to come towards the completion of my course with only Part B left to submit of my revision supplement. It has been stressful. and hard to come towards to the end of the course, due to having to care for my mum, due to her medical condition. Also having to take responsibility of the house chores and caring for my younger siblings. I am happy and proud of the stage I have reached.
