I have been able to carry on my course even though my internet has been off-line and also help get my flatmates pc running even without the drivers for the motherboard. We found the drivers for the motherboard after we had the pc up and running the only drivers that need adding are the ones for the Ethernet.

I have to study while looking after my disabled father which is hard because there is no one else that lives with me or that can help me out but my dad supports me in studying making sure I do it

I have applied what I've learnt by fixed 2 computers with confidence (knowing I wouldn't break them).

I have also taught someone to use a computer with Windows Vista and Linux, which was a great experience.

I do have some concepts of IT but was away from my studies for last 5 years. Since joining Skills Train I have learnt a lot, even though I have a very tough time table due to my job but still I have managed to submit few TMAs with very good results.

I must say my achievements have been gaining more and more in confidence in learning about networking, as having been out of IT for a good few years I wasn't sure whether I would be any good with IT any more.

So I decided to enrol on a Network+ course with skillstrain and it has been the bestest decision I have made it my life, as even with the worse lodgers in the world I have continued to do well and submit my assignments.

As the tutors are the most supportive tutors I have ever had, they will go out of there May to ensure that you understand everything and if not they will call you up and offer you help and advice and I think without there help I would have given up months ago but they make you think "YOU CAN AND YOU WILL MAKE IT".

So my advice to anyone that is thinking of quitting carry it through to the very end when you pass the exam and you get that certificate as it will make you feel on top of the world and give you a glowing feeling inside like your dreams have come true.

I would say that will skillstrain that everyone will make your dreams come true and I am so grateful for the tutors in helping me get to this crucial stage where I am revising and they always make sure I am on the right tracks even if I steer the wrong track so to speak.

So carry on and your dreams will come true.

Thanks for everyone at skillstrain for being so supporting, and always giving loads of encouragement.

I now help people at work with any it problems they encounter.

Thanks

I joined this course in order to start my own business in 2008 however later that year I was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer. I tried to keep up with the course but the Chemo made me very sick. The support of the team has been great and I am now progressing well both health wise and on the course. My results have been fairly consistent. I am really enjoying the course and enjoy doing the TMA's. The online nature of the course has allowed me to study and keep my brain active despite the trauma of going through both Chemo and Radio therapy. I had another scan yesterday as I am still being sick and suffer pain at night so hopefully they find the cause and resolve it quickly so I and my family can have a good 2010.

I think I have achieved a lot in the last couple of months, I have never really used Java or Perl before and have submitted all my TMA and have had some very good results which I am surprised with. I think that my knowledge of JavaScript and Perl has really grown over the last month.

There was, and still is, any doubt I have a strong desire to pursue an IT course, not only to enhance future prospect, but also I feel I have the strong personal feeling that I must achieve and prove something to myself.

I therefore started off my course in February 2009 with much enthusiasm. I struggled financially, and lost a bit of discipline with my study time and schedules. If finally reached a head around September 2009. I just couldn't fathom how best to salvaged my study time with my financial worries.

Around this time, my PC packed up on me. My children had played up with it. I was a bit disappointed and despondent. I sought guidance from the Tutors. I was provided with clear idea how to go about fixing the PC but somehow the lack of confidence was a great hindrance. I just couldn't find the courage to lay my fingers on the PC. As my wife allowed me to use her laptop, I quickly packed up the PC.

Around this time, some vendor dropped in leaflet through my door. They could repair troubled PC on-site. Oh! what a relief! I toyed with the idea of sending an email to one of this vendor to come in an fix the PC. Then I asked myself: could I meet up with repair cost? Indeed, how can I find the money when I am struggling to pay off my course cost?

Then the plug in stick in the laptop broke when the kids used it, and I was back to square one. Fingers were pointed and some unpleasant words said in the household. It was at the point late in November that I found find the confidence. Driven by a furious wife, and kids drowning down my neck with request to do their school homework, I finally sat down to do what I should have done long ago.

I plugged on the PC, and it remained blanked and lifeless. I scrambled down my lockers and gracefully found the manufacturer booklet and the reboot disc and other items I had thrown down the locker.

I set about the computer repair. I knew I had to do it for my own sake and for peace in the household. With the reboot disc I put back in, the screen came alive, and I graciously followed the on-screen instruction. Within an hour, I had restored my PC back to use. The kids were happy, my wife was happy, and I was happy I had taken my first step as a PC Engineer. The feelings were unspeakable. I then wonder, had I had the money, I sure would have called in one of the PC repairer to fix my bunked up PC. I had save money, and put a skills I have had to good use.

As an Arsenal fan, I used the onlive Arsenal TV to watch some old games. I had some difficult some few days ago, getting the video screen working. I said to myself, here is another challenge. I must tackle it. I read the instruction on how to configure the Video. I got it right and it is currently functioning. It has been a really wonderful time for me. I am getting my confidence back, and have re-scheduled my study times and I am looking forward to a good PC technician job as soon as I can complete my A+.
